Werner Briedenhann

Werner addresses the realities men face with skill and experience. His psychology career stretches well over a decade. Alongside private practice he’s worked in psychiatric hospitals and community mental health. There is a nuanced understanding of the depth and severity of mental health and the psychological impact it has on individuals. He’s worked with men experiencing psychosis, to severe depression, PTSD, and survivors of sexual trauma.

He also brings well rounded life experience to the couch. He’s lived in South Africa and New Zealand before calling Melbourne home. He is aware of the impact of extreme life changes, immigration, and the challenges of creating a new life somewhere else while navigating new systems and social dynamics.

Men’s mental health and wellbeing has become an integral part of the work he does and the focus of his practice. There is a need to talk more about the realities men face and how they experience the world, especially during midlife. Men’s life experience is layered with complexities, pressure, and expectations. His couch is the place to talk about this.
